HE Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Deputy Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), was leading an Emirati delegation during his visit to Washington, USA, on 16 April 2019. This visit comes as part of the preparation to host “FIRST Global”, the first international robotics challenge of its kind in the region. During the 7th World Government Summit last February, HE Mohammed Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future and Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation, announced that Dubai would host the FIRST Global Robotics Challenge in October 2019. FIRST Global will be held in the Arab world for the first time after previous editions were held in the US and Mexico. The event will inspire young students in fields like science, math, technology and innovation to find solutions to different sectors like water and energy. Over 2,000 youth participants representing 193 countries are expected in Dubai.
